Digital innovation in education is accelerating across the Middle East and North Africa, with technologies such as artificial intelligence creating new opportunities to improve teaching and learning. Cambridge University Press and Assessment and HP Inc. have announced a new Education Technology Fellowship, inviting education leaders from the region to explore how technology can support more inclusive and resilient education systems.

Strengthening Leadership in Education Technology

The Fellowship focuses on strengthening the skills of senior policymakers and education leaders to design forward-looking, evidence-based and scalable technology strategies. Over a five-month programme, participants will collaborate with peers and experts, culminating in a final project aimed at expanding access to education technology and supporting long-term learning outcomes for students.

“Education systems in the Middle East and North Africa face unique opportunities and challenges. This Fellowship brings fresh thinking and supports leaders to deliver bold solutions that strengthen equity and resilience.”

Jane Mann, Managing Director, Partnership for Education, Cambridge University Press & Assessment

A key element of the programme is a residential week in Cambridge, where Fellows will engage in in-depth discussions, workshops and practical learning experiences focused on education innovation.

Expansion into North Africa

This cohort marks the Fellowship’s first expansion into North Africa, following strong engagement in Europe, Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Gulf. The Fellowship community now includes 99 Fellows representing 49 countries, reflecting growing global interest in strategic leadership in education technology.

“Following our successful Gulf cohort, our expansion to the Middle East and North Africa highlights increasing demand for strategic EdTech leadership in the region and accelerates digital transformation with local policymakers and education leaders as they shape the future of learning through technology.”

Mayank Dhingra, Global Director, Education Business and Strategy at HP

Exploring Innovation and Equity

Throughout the programme, Fellows will examine how emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, can support strategic innovation in education. Participants will also build practical expertise in designing and implementing education technology strategies that expand access, promote equity and strengthen learning systems.

In addition to technical learning, the Fellowship supports professional development by enabling leaders to share experiences and develop networks that extend beyond the duration of the programme.
