The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has officially launched the Basic Education Support Project in the Republic of Mali. The launch ceremony took place on Saturday, attended by Deputy Saudi Ambassador to Mali, Abdulmohsen Al-Otaibi, alongside senior officials from both KSrelief and the Malian Ministry of Education.
Strengthening Educational Infrastructure
The project aims to strengthen Mali’s educational infrastructure and enhance learning opportunities for students in underserved regions. It will directly benefit 20,800 male and female students across targeted areas, with a particular focus on improving the quality of education and supporting student retention.
As part of the initiative, 270 classrooms in 45 public schools will be equipped with essential furniture and learning tools. Each classroom will receive student desks, a teacher’s desk and chair, a metal storage cabinet, and a laptop to support digital learning. In addition, 4,600 students will be provided with school bags containing necessary educational supplies, as well as school uniforms and shoes, ensuring that basic needs are met to facilitate regular attendance and active participation in learning.
Supporting Sustainable Development and Community Empowerment
The Basic Education Support Project aligns with KSrelief’s broader humanitarian and development agenda, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to global education and relief initiatives. By enhancing school infrastructure and providing essential resources, the project contributes to community empowerment and promotes sustainable development in Mali. Access to education is recognised as a vital foundation for societal growth, economic development, and long-term stability, particularly in regions facing educational and socio-economic challenges.
Officials highlighted that projects such as this one not only improve the immediate learning environment but also strengthen the capacity of local education systems. Through these interventions, KSrelief seeks to support Mali in meeting educational goals, reducing disparities, and enabling children to develop the knowledge and skills required for future opportunities.
The initiative also underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing educational needs in countries affected by limited resources, conflict, or developmental constraints. By partnering with local authorities and communities, KSrelief ensures that support is targeted, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of students and educators alike.
