The ADvTECH Group, one of Africa’s leading private education providers, has announced a significant milestone with the opening of Rosebank International University College (RIUC) in Accra, Ghana. This marks the Group’s first university-level institution outside South Africa and signals the rising demand for quality private higher education across West Africa.

Rosebank International University College: A New Era for Higher Education in Ghana

Registrations for RIUC opened on 15 June 2025, with the first academic semester commencing on 1 September 2025. A second enrolment cycle is scheduled for February 2026, providing more opportunities for students eager to join the pioneering institution.

The university college is located in Accra’s prestigious Airport Residential Area, offering a modern and secure campus. Advanced facilities include high-tech learning spaces, facial recognition security systems, and dedicated student support services.

At launch, fifteen fully accredited qualifications will be offered, ranging from diplomas to doctoral-level programmes. Academic fields include:

  • Business Administration
  • Digital Marketing
  • Information Technology
  • Service Management
  • Hospitality and Tourism

Students will also benefit from holistic development opportunities. Beyond classroom learning, RIUC provides extracurricular activities, academic foundations, financial literacy training, digital literacy programmes, and psychosocial support.

Why Ghana? Strategic Expansion into West Africa

The expansion into Ghana reflects ADvTECH’s recognition of the growing appetite for private tertiary education in the region. Public universities often face resource constraints, and students are increasingly seeking programmes aligned with global industry needs in business, technology, and hospitality.

ADvTECH has already built a strong reputation in South Africa through the Rosebank brand, and it has operational experience in countries such as Kenya, Botswana and Ethiopia in its schools division. Leveraging this expertise, the Group is well-positioned to replicate its success in Ghana and create a benchmark for private higher education in West Africa.

Bridging Skills Gaps in Ghana and Beyond

RIUC’s programme portfolio has been designed to directly address skills gaps in the Ghanaian economy. With growing sectors in technology, business services and hospitality, the need for skilled graduates is urgent. By offering postgraduate and doctoral qualifications, the institution is not only preparing industry-ready professionals but also contributing to research and innovation in the region.

Challenges and Opportunities

While the launch is an important step forward, ADvTECH will need to carefully navigate certain challenges:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Recognition of degrees and continuous accreditation will be vital to ensure employability of graduates.
  • Affordability and Access: Private education can be costly, so offering scholarships or flexible payment options will be important.
  • Market Competition: Other providers in Ghana offer similar courses, meaning RIUC must stand out through quality, relevance and student experience.
  • Sustainability: Long-term success will depend on enrolment growth, retention, faculty excellence and innovation in teaching.

Despite these challenges, the opportunities are vast. With Ghana’s political stability, strong economic growth and reputation as an educational hub in West Africa, the environment is ripe for ADvTECH’s investment.

Transforming West African Higher Education

The arrival of RIUC will increase options for Ghanaian students, helping ease the pressure on public universities while raising standards across the sector. The presence of a respected international brand can also encourage healthy competition, inspire curriculum innovation and contribute to Ghana’s positioning as a regional hub for higher education.

Furthermore, ADvTECH’s entry is part of a larger continental trend. As more education providers expand across borders, cross-regional hubs are emerging, offering students greater mobility and more diverse learning opportunities.

ADvTECH Group CEO Geoff Whyte said,

“We are delighted to bring our highly successful Rosebank College brand to Ghana and expand our university footprint outside of South Africa for the first time.”

A Landmark Development for Private Higher Education in Ghana

The launch of Rosebank International University College is a landmark development for Ghana and the wider West African education sector. It showcases ADvTECH’s commitment to shaping the future of education on the continent and supporting students with skills relevant to today’s economy.

For students and parents seeking a future-focused, globally recognised education in Ghana, RIUC offers a unique opportunity to be part of a new chapter in higher learning.
