Building on the brand’s commitment to creating meaningful hospitality experiences, guests at Rixos Hotels across the UAE can now contribute towards the construction of a school in Malawi.
A Partnership Focused on Education and Impact
Rixos Hotels has announced a new partnership with Dubai Cares, a UAE-based global philanthropic organisation, to support its Adopt a School programme in Malawi. Following the official signing ceremony held on 6 October, guests staying across all Rixos Hotels in the UAE will be invited to take part in this initiative, with a fundraising target of AED 186,000 to support the construction of a new school in Malawi.
Participating properties include Rixos Premium Dubai, Rixos The Palm Hotel and Suites, Rixos Marina Abu Dhabi, Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island, Rixos Al Mairid Ras Al Khaimah and Rixos Bab Al Bahr. Once completed, the school will provide children and adults with access to quality education, helping to strengthen the community for years to come.
Reinforcing Social Responsibility Beyond Hospitality
The partnership reflects Rixos Hotels’ ongoing commitment to social responsibility and its belief in creating positive impact beyond the hospitality sector. The brand continues to support initiatives that promote inclusivity, unity and long-term community development, both within the UAE and internationally, recognising education as a key driver of sustainable change.
Dubai Cares and its Global Mission
Dubai Cares was founded in 2007 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Since its inception, the organisation has positively impacted the lives of more than 116 million individuals across 60 developing countries, with a focus on breaking the cycle of poverty through education.
Through its Adopt a School programme, Dubai Cares enables individuals and organisations to directly support education initiatives in underserved communities worldwide. In Malawi, where access to education is often limited by financial constraints, inadequate infrastructure and social challenges, the programme supports school construction, literacy training and sustainable community-led solutions.
Creating Long-term Opportunities in Malawi
Once completed, the school in Malawi will accommodate up to 100 students, creating new educational opportunities for children in the community. Beyond infrastructure, the programme will deliver lasting social impact through the training of two adult literacy facilitators, supporting 60 men and women in developing essential reading and writing skills.
Community involvement remains central to the initiative, with parents and local residents contributing approximately 1,000 volunteer workdays towards the construction and maintenance of the school, fostering ownership and long-term sustainability.
How Guests can Contribute
Guests staying at Rixos Hotels across the UAE can support the initiative by making donations through dedicated POS machines located in hotel lobbies. Every contribution will support the creation of a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for children and adults in Malawi.
“Malawi faces significant educational challenges, with 70 percent of its population living below the poverty line. In such contexts, access to quality education is not just important; it’s essential to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating long-term opportunities.”
Mr. Abdulla Ahmed Al Shehhi, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares
He added, “Support from the private sector is crucial in driving meaningful change, and we are grateful to Rixos Hotels in the UAE for partnering with us through the Adopt a School programme in Malawi. Their commitment reflects the power of collaboration in building a more inclusive and brighter future for vulnerable children and their communities.”
“At Rixos Hotels, we have always believed in the strength of community and collective action. This partnership with Dubai Cares allows us to channel the reach of our brand into something with long-term social impact, supporting access to quality education while also encouraging our guests to be part of a meaningful cause.”
Mr. Cenk Ünverdi, Chief Operating Officer, Rixos Hotels and ALL-Inclusive Collection
